Implementing strength training into a prehab program is a key component for runners. Adding tempo runs, long runs, and speedwork into your training program will help build speed and efficiency, but strength training is often an element that takes runners to the next level. Strength work aims to prevent injuries by strengthening muscles and connective tissues; increase speed by boosting neuromuscular coordination and power; and it improves running economy by encouraging coordination and stride efficiency. Here are some some exercises to implement into your rehab program roughly three times a week.
